Hoop Fiends 65 Vs. Still Ballin’66

If the 2015 Fall Metro League season is half as good as the first game of the season we are all in for a treat.

A game that took not one but two overtimes PLUS A SUDDEN DEATH had everything: Deep threes, hard fouls and competitive fire.

Still Ballin" was led by the double headed monster of Captain Brandon Chauncey and Trey Melton combining for 49 points between them.

Andrew Chahwan paced the Hoop Fiends with a versatile 23 points.

Livestock 64 – Suicide Squad 30

In a lopsided affair from the jump Livestock ran all over the newly formed Suicide Squad. Suicide squad will look to regroup next week with a revamped roster as they were missing key players this week. Team Livestock looked to be clicking on all cylinders early and they too will be a force this season as they look to contend with the Metro League Royalty.

Metro Men 55 Vs. SWAT 82

The beginning another big season would start with the new and the old school.   The new squad Metro Men looked to come with high energy in their first “fore ray” into the deep waters of the Fall League!  The longest standing team in league history awaited the challenge!  Team Swat has had many face, and more often than not they have been formidable every season!

Just like most of the battles on this night, the game started out as a tug of war.  Both teams playing to their strengths, waiting for each other to show a weakness.  The overall size and experience of Team Swat began to take over the game.  The inside presence along with the outside shooting overwhelmed the newcomers, and Swat would win going away.

Strong showing by both teams, but it is a long season and a lot can happen!

Metro Men Top Scorer: Vito Chan 19  points

SWAT Scorer: 31 points Damon Rosier and Stuart Wallenstein

Ball So Hard 86 – YMCMB 60

The nightcap on the main court started off promising but finished in a drubbing. Jack led YMCMB was dropping triples, finishing strong and getting to the line pouring in 18 first half points but it wasn’t enough to keep the three headed monster of Lucas Weara, Brandon Hoyem and Devon Carney at bay.

In the end depth again proved to be the answer as Ball So Hard took it by a smooth 26.

Ball So Hard Top Scorer: Lucas Weara 31 Points

YMCMB Top Scorer: Jack 27 Points

Deep Throwers 58 – Core 64

The first half of the this closely contested affair was a head to head battle between two men: Frits Lapostra vs. Brandon Harder. These boys were playing a game of chicken as to who would blink first. The second the lack of depth from the deep throwers proved to be their Achilles heal as Core pushed the lead to 6 in the final minute and never looked back.

Top Scorers

Core Top Scorer: Brandon Harder 23 points

Deep Throwers Top Scorer: Frits Lapostra 33 points.

Stallions 84 Vs. Sonic Boom 72

A battle of Metroleague mainstays pitted former multiple time Metro League Champions the Stallions vs Sonic Boom. Vancouver Metro League legend Joey Haywood suited up and carried Sonic Boom leading them with 28 points while Elliot Mason was soaking wet dropping triples from Langara’s campus finishing with a game high 30 points. In the end the depth of the Stallions proved to be too much as they pulled away at the end. These teams will surely be two to follow in the Fight for Fall.

Top Scorers

Stallions Top Scorer: Elliot Mason 30 points

Sonic Boom Top Scorer: Joey Haywood 28 points

SB Battle 87 – Sofa King Good 65

The nightcap was a closely contested game.

The New kids on the block looked sharp on this night. SB Battle features four of the Vancouver’s ABA team the ‘Balloholics’ and their chemistry was definitely on point while Sofa King Good was struggling to click down the stretch in the second half. The depth of SB Battle was simply too much down the stretch as the combination of Former National team player, Ransford Brempong, reigning Metro League MVP Clay Crellin, Balloholics star Demi Harris and former UFV Cascasde Kadeem Willis.

Top Scorers

SB Battle Top Scorer: Demitri Harris 27 points

Sofa King Good Top Scorer: Gurj Pooni 26 points
