Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Metro Basketball League™ 10th Year Anniversary Week 5 went on during a snowy Monday night at The Richmond Olympic Oval. To view the FULL Photo album, visit our Facebook Page.

In Week 5 of the Vancouver Metro Basketball League™, Night Hoops hot shooting continued with the team making 14 out of 22 three point shots for the game. Night Hoops led 34-32 at intermission, but the Grizzlies opened with an 10-2 run to open the second half. Angus Tones’ 3-pointer ignited the run and Kevin Shaw added three 3’s after the Grizzlies had gone 0-for-4 from long range in the first half, Shaw had a game high 25 points.


The Grizzlies led throughout the second half but Night Hoop’s charged back and were lef by Gary Minhas, who finished with 23 points and 5 rebounds off the bench while teammate Garth Anderson added 16 points. Night Hoops went on to close the game 68-61.

Brody Greig had 23 points and 7 assists to lead the Stallions past the Family Guys. Roger Sheung added a big 19 points, 5 rebounds in the second half as the Stallions pulled away after being down 26-32 at the intermission.


The Family Guys had a tough night shooting the ball from the three but were able to stay within single digits over the course of the game with their strong ability to get to the rim. David Ta scored 18 points for Family Guys. The Stallions would secure the 68-61 win.



Abraham Castellanos scored a game-high 19 points and 8 rebounds for the Agaveros with Pepa Vega adding 11 points with 9 rebounds. The Agaveros scored the final eight points to lead 28–24 at the half. In the second half, the youth of the Huskies was a factor in their win over the Agaveros. Mark Mitchell had a game high 25 points to lead their first win on the season 73-51.

Reign took care of business last night with a 94-55 win over the Raptors.


Reign were draining 3-pointers all game long, connecting on eith from behind the arc as a team. Luca Bonamic was the game's leading scorer with 26 points with 4 different players scored in double digis for Reign on the night. Karinga Wells scored  14 points and 7 rebounds for the Raptors but Reign would prove to be too much to handle

The Party would play Nothin’ But Netflix on the snowy Week 5 night and would be given all they could handle. Nothin’ But Netflix did not back down all game to the defending Division II Champs. In the end, the veteran presence and cohesion of The Party led them to victory to stay undefeated on the season.

First Half:

Week 5 got underway at Court 6 with a battle behind the 3-point line. Cole James scored 12 points in the first half behind the three-point line for All Trouble, however Skyler Rustad did the same for All Canadians, also A.J. Imperial and Joel Kibangula stepped it up from deep and gave them a 57 to 32 lead at the half


Second half:

Daniel Sayadi went to work attacking the paint grabbing 5 boards, while adding 10 points and two assists in the second half. But, Lazor Cuk got hot from 3 in the second half leading a 14 - 0 run for the All Canadians. Despite the effort from All Trouble on the post, Kent Hector had an answer for that, grabbing his second double-double of the season grabbing 10 boards and scoring 14 points helping the All Canadians to the victory.

The Squad and Banana Boat Crew would battle hard all night, with The Squad looking for their first victory of the season. In this back-and-forth game, it was Banana Boat Crew who would get the big buckets down the stretch to ice the game taking an eventual 56-46 victory.

First Half

Ahmed Mohamud started very aggressively in the first half scoring 10 points in the first 10 minutes of the first half for the Underdogs. Hunter Jordan carried the Cushman Skyscrapers during the first half scoring 7 points in the first 23 minutes. He also had active hands and grabbed two steals, keeping it within reach at the end of the first half down just 10 points.

Second half

The Underdogs dominated the boards in the second and converting all in second chance points to start the second half. Edgar Buksevics did a great job in the second half scoring 6 points within the first 5 minutes of the second half trying to keep the game within reach, however Jordan Sergue sparked up in the second half with 9 pts from deep. To give a 30 point lead with five min to go, the Underdogs never looked back and completed the game with a 74-36 victory to keep their winning streak going.

TTP would get a gritty win last night against SWAT. Despite being undersized and facing a lengthy 2-3 zone most of the game, TTP would knock down shots when they needed to most. For SWAT, their inside game would keep them close throughout, but a late run by TTP getting out in transition would be the knockout punch.

First half:

The last game of the night at Court 6 started with Alban leading on the defensive end, having the active hands and getting 4 steals and converting at the other end to put Kahwi So SRS on a 15-4 run to start the game. Ball Don’t Stop Much gave a solid effort to finish the half, led by Hulk Feng who was driving in the paint and getting to the free throw line, scoring a total 6 points in the first half. Jesse Beavis, who had a great start to the half scoring 10 points to lead Kahwi So SRS 36 to 21 at the half.

Second half

Hulk Feng started the second half driving to the paint and grabbing 4 points while William He added a bucket from deep to start the second half, for Ball Don’t Stop Much. For Kawhi So SRS it was Ben Fan who was un-guardable from deep scoring 15 points from behind the line in the second half alongside Kavin Grewal and A.J who added to a 12 -3 run for Kahwi So SRS. Alvin Lin tried fighting back with a six point run of his own, but it was not enough to stop Kahwi So SRS from securing the win.

First half

Per was hot right off the bat going on a 5-0 run to start the game also grabbing 2 boards for the OT Bandits giving them a promising start to the game. However, Tre Rhodes answered right back with a 5 -0 run of his own and Weilun Huang scored 6 points from deep in the first  two attempts as well as getting a stea to spark the Bucket Getters slow start. Pep Llado would keep it close by scoring seven points at end the half to get the OT Bandits closer on the scoreboard to close the half 27 – 34 for the Bucket Getters.

Second Half:

Kevin Khungay started the second half a bit more aggressive grabbing three boards and driving in the paint, getting fouled so he got his first four points of the half behind the freethrow line. Lin stayed active defensively for the OT Bandits and with his speed kept penetrating and getting easy buckets in the paint, he also scored a crucial three to keep the bandits within five points with 8 minutes to go. From there Telsyn Doucette and Emmanuel Gatera went to work defensively forcing three turnovers to tie up the game with 3 minutes to go. The final minutes of the last game of the night at Court 5 was a nail bitter that came down to the Bucket getters knocking down their free throws to win the game 56 to 53 giving them their third W of the season.
